What does fear look like?

When we let go of the fear that in front of like a veil, we see things differently and see potential for us to embrace what can be and go farther— we see courage and strength. Fear is a powerful emotion meant to protect us and also can be known to keep us from the person we long to be or have been in the past before hardship and hurt came along. It can be hard to uncover the fears that hold us back unless we dig deep because they come disguised and we have coping mechanisms and self talk in place to keep us safe.

Examples of fear to recognize

  • I don’t talk to that person because I am afraid they won’t appreciate it.
  • I don’t want to be kind to the new boss at work because I am afraid I will get taken advantage of
  • I can’t be honest because I am afraid of rejection.

How to let go of fear?

Give some thought today of increasing the trust in yourself. Asking what if I did this afraid? Neuroplasticity tells us that our brain is learning with each experience and we can make every experience a learning experience not to avoid situations because of fear rather facing them and learning from them for the next similar situation. You can’t steer a stationary object so let’s get moving to let go of fear and let in trusting our self.
